Emma Rice - Artistic Director for the Globe Theatre 2016

posted 14 May 2015, 10:54 by Marc Pepperell
Emma Rice, currently joint artistic director of Cornwall-based Kneehigh, has just been announced as the new Artistic Director for the Globe Theatre from April 2016.

Although we’ve somehow never captured Emma as a guest for an In Conversation, the fact that Kneehigh is an associate artist of Bristol Old Vic and that Emma has been responsible for some of its most iconic productions enjoyed locally - The Bacchae (at BOV), Tristan & Yseult (twice at BOV in recent years), Rapunzel (at Circomedia) and Brief Encounter (a production the Theatre Club travelled to Birmingham Rep to see a few years ago) perhaps justifies us feeling a particular connection to this outstanding and original director. We wish her well.
